Photonics Industries is founded by Dr. Yusong Yin.

An entrepreneurial private enterprise, the company takes the slogan the pioneer of intracavity harmonic lasers for the introduction of the original second harmonic Nd:YLF laser, operated at >20 millijoules single pulse energy at 1 kilohertz, and harmonic wavelength of 527 nanometers. Shipped First Lamp Pumped Green Laser GM30-527.

1994

Introduction of the 20 Watts TEM00 mode @ 527nm at kHz range Nd:YLF green laser into the market.

1996

Expansion Into The Ultraviolet

Introduction of the high average power, intracavity harmonic 10W TEM00 mode UV laser, 351nm Nd:YAG/YLF.

1997

Continual Breakthrough With Intracavity UV Harmonics

Introduction of the highest power and patented intracavity UV laser at 15W average power output, TEM00 mode, at 351nm from Nd:YLF.

US Patent for Third harmonic generation apparatus Patent (Patent # 5,898,717).

1998

From Lamp-Pumped to Diode-Pumped

Introduction of the first 5W TEM00 mode 355 nm Diode-Pumped Solid-State (DPSS) Laser.

DUV introduction with 4 Watts TEM00 mode DUV power at 263nm at 3kHz from Nd:YLF, and then 8 Watts TEM00 mode DUV power at 263nm at 3kHz from Nd:YLF.

1999

UV Innovative Breakthroughs

Introduction of high power 8W TEM00 mode DUV laser at 263nm at 3kHz from Nd:YLF.

Introduces 25mJ in kHz range TEM00 Green Laser – The Highest Pulse Energy Available.

Photonics Industries headquarters purchased a new 67,000 ft2 headquarters building in Ronkonkoma, New York; a threefold increase in building space; and 8,000 ft2 of new clean room facilities.

2016

Movement To Efficient & Sustainable Manufacturing
Photonics Industries facilities introduce more sustainable manufacturing.

Installation of just under 400kW of solar panels on the roof of Photonics Industries headquarters and manufacturing in Ronkonkoma, New York.

Installation of all new, solid state (LED) lighting throughout the interior and exterior of headquarters and manufacturing.

Installation of a novel geo-thermal system, eliminating the need for any refrigeration systems and enabling the use of more efficient water-to-water chillers for our extensive laser manufacturing and test facilities.

2016

Ever Higher Pulse Energies

Introduction of the first 35 millijoule TEM00 laser in the kilohertz pulse repetition rate range (wavelength of 527 nanometers), keeping the lead for the highest pulse energy available at kHz PRR range.

2017

Constant Innovation For All Industrial Laser Regimes

Introduction of the highest pulse energy ultraviolet (UV) laser providing 40 millijoules at 351 nanometers, with excellent beam quality (M2 ~10), and available in a dual head configuration up to 80 mJ.

Introduction of high power sub-nanosecond lasers, the SN Series, with availability in the pulse width range of 150 picosecond to 1 nanosecond; 70 watts average power at 1064 nanometers, 50 W at 532 nm, and 25 W at 355 nm.

Introduction of an industrial, high throughput-capable UV nanosecond laser in kilohertz pulse repetition rate, up to >1 millijoule pulse energy, and >50 watts average power (DX-355-50 Nanosecond Lasers).

2017

Record-breaking Attosecond Pulses Produced

Photonics Industries’ high pulse energy DM Series lasers were used as the pump source that ultimately lead to the generation of record-breaking ultrashort pulses of 53 attoseconds.

2018

High Pulse Energy, Short Pulse, Air-cooled, TEM00 Lasers

Short pulse requirements (<10ns), high pulse energy with low power consumption, air-cooled, diode-pumped solid-state laser, the DP Series, is introduced; 20 millijoules at 1053 nanometers, 18 mJ at 527 nm, and 4 mJ at 351 nm.

Highest Pulse Energy UV Picosecond Laser Produced

Introduction of the highest pulse energy ultraviolet (UV) picosecond (ps) laser on the market at 200 microjoules at 355nm providing:

High power (over 50 watts at 355 nm), short picosecond pulse width (~7ps) High pulse repetition rates (up to 8 MHz).

2022

First Femtosecond Lasers Introduced

Introduction of Photonics Industries’ first industrial femtosecond lasers, the FS Series.

2023

30 Year Anniversary

Photonics Industries (PI) celebrates its 30th year in business reflecting on its immense contributions as the leader of the diode pumped solid state laser revolution. Photonics Industries is The Pioneer of Intracavity Solid-State Harmonic Lasers, an advent that enabled the mass manufacturability of flat panel TVs and cell phones ushering in the new era of the Information Age that we live in today!
