Laser Focus World Innovators Awards 2023, which celebrates innovative technologies, products, and systems found in the photonics market, has given the Gold Innovators Award for Photonics Industries’ RGLX-AC Series Air-Cooled High Pulse Energy Picosecond Lasers.

The RGLX-AC high pulse energy, air-cooled picosecond laser offers up to 4 mJ pulse energy at 1 kHz pulse repetition rate, flexible operation from 1 to 1000 Hz (lower than 25 Hz operation utilizes burst mode or PSO mode, for constant pulse energy down to 1 Hz), pulse width < 25 ps, TEM00 M2 of 1.3, and >99% circularity (at focus). Pulse to pulse energy stability is <1.4% rms.

The ability to air-cool, and other cooling methods considered “passive,” on higher pulse energy, ultrashort-pulse (USP) regime lasers, opens up several new opportunities and applications in fields with stringent requirements surrounding: 1) size, weight, and power (SWaP) consumption; 2) cooling with water (i.e., having to deal with need for a chiller); and 3) portability. Such fields that sustain these aforementioned highly stringent requirements are found in the defense, aerospace, and medical industries.
